Highbury Area Community Association - Registered Charity

Welcome to the Official Web Page of the Highbury Area Community Association, a Registered Charity, situated in Cosham, Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
No. Of Visitors

8062

HACA was formed in 1977 to organise a street party to celebrate the Queen's Siver Jubilee.
This proved to be so successful that it was decided to continue, with a view to raising sufficient funds to acquire land and purchase a building, as the Association was using local school premises for events such as a weekly Youth Club, Jumble Sales and Bingo sessions.

After several years, enough cash was raised to purchase an old apprentice's hut from Portsmouth Naval Base, and this was dismantled and re-erected at the current site in Hawthorn Crescent, Cosham on land made available by the local Council's Leisure Services Department. All work was carried out on a voluntary basis by members of the Association and the building was officially opened in 1985.

Information regarding membership, forthcoming events and details regarding hiring the Community Centre and facilities may be found on other pages within the site.
